I’m a 29 year old wife and mother, and I have been overweight for as long as I can remember.
I started my first diet at 12 years old and eventually developed binge-eating disorder by the time I entered high school. I’ve tried nearly every diet plan on the market without long term success. I would always gain back any weight (and then some) once I returned to old eating habits. In addition to binge-eating disorder, I also suffered with severe body image issues and a negative self image that left me feeling anxious and depressed. I used food for comfort and put on weight.
Failed diet after failed diet, and two pregnancies later, I got up to 177 pounds (I’m 5’4) by January 2017. This was when I decided that enough was enough, and I started to “eat healthy” and try to eliminate as much processed food as possible. I lost 17 pounds in six months, but I was stalled and feeling unmotivated. When I searched the internet for weight loss strategies, I stumbled upon the ketogenic diet; I was fascinated by the successful stories of people losing weight by eating a high fat, low carb diet and incorporating intermittent fasting.
I immediately implemented both of these lifestyle changes on June 1, 2017 and have since gotten down to my lowest weight ever (135 pounds)! I’m thinner than I was on my wedding day! Keto and IF have helped me lose 25 pounds in five months. At my highest weight, I was a size 14 and am now a size 4. Most importantly, I’m developing a healthy relationship with food and learning to love myself.
